The Conference saw discussions on relevance and scope of green economy in the context of sustainable mountain development.  In order to enhance the prominence of mountain systems in further national and international Debates, discussions on strategies and approaches took place among various experts and policy makers. The declaration includes important aspects such as improving markets for mountain ecosystem goods & services, establishment of ways to access resources and property rights for the marginalised groups, indigenous communities and women etc.

The consultative workshop with stakeholders from the herbal sector prioritized medicinal species for all agro-climatic zones of India based on conservation needs as well as their market demand, and devised intervention strategies for both conservation and herbal sector development. Various stakeholders having divergent interests were brought together for a coordinated effort for an overall development of the sector and to take a comprehensive look at the issues plaguing the herbal sector and find solutions. The report provides a detailed account of the two-day event and the recommendations for policy and practice, lists of priority species by agro-climatic regions and specific action options.

 A National workshop on Promotion of Walnut and Almond in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand was held on 22-23 March, 2013 at DMR, Chambaghat, Solan. The event was sponsored by National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India. Experts from YSPUHF, Nauni, Solan, IARI, Regional Station Shimla, NBPGR, Shimla, APEDA, Officers of State Departments of Horticulture, H.P. & Uttarakhand, Walnut& other Nut Fruit Growers Association of India and farmers of both the States participated and deliberated on the issues in details.
