“We are not happy with the development taking place in the village. The development process is very slow. There are not enough road facilities and where there are roads they are not in a good condition. There is a lack of sanitation facilities and proper water supply in the villages. Many villages do not have schools, so students have to travel long distances in order to attend school. The government has done some development, now there are facilities like communication, Panchayat Bhawan, etc. in every village.
There should be provision of facilities like sanitation, banking, schools for girls, higher secondary schools in the village. Modern technology is increasing the problems of the local community. People are losing their land, they are getting jobs but in the long run it will increase their problems.
Modern development is driving our culture and traditions to extinction. The way people dress is changing. No one wears traditional dresses now days. One hardly hears of Kinnauri songs. The bond that people shared within a community is no longer there.” |
