Development

“I am not happy with the development taking place in Joshimath, because it is taking place in few areas under the influence of few powerful people. Some areas are suffering from water scarcity, lack of sanitation facilities and connecting roads. I would like to reiterate that the development process is very slow in Joshimath and the various departments seldom listen to our problems.

I have seen development work taking place in our village like connecting roads, mobile network, television, schools etc. All these developments are helpful to villagers. I would like to see one health center, junior high school, and industries that would create employment opportunities for the youth in my village.

I think development is good for the hill region and don't think it is affecting our culture and traditions so much. However, nowadays people do not have time for things like traditional dances because they are busy with their own lives and problems.”
