"With respect to plains, we in the hills are more affected by natural disasters like avalanches, landslides. This has been increasing due to the loss of greenery in our hills. Yes, there are afforestation programmes conducted by the Forest Department but they are in some pockets only. Snowfall is decreasing every year. The fodder and firewood availability is also decreasing. Natural disasters are changing the land-use pattern in many places."
