Cultural adaptation to nature is more prominent in those societies, which are found in harsh physical environment, like the society in Lahaul & Spiti, existing in the cold desert region of the Himalayas. The different valleys of Lahaul and Spiti are not only spatially separated, they are also culturally distinct. This variation is more striking in the five different valleys of Lahaul. Apart from the dialects spoken, there are certain practices, which are also unique to each valley. The document explores the social structure and the customs of the region. |
