ICIMOD aims to assist mountain people to understand impacts of globalisation and climate change on the stability of mountain ecosystems and the livelihoods of the mountain people, adapt to them, and make the most of new opportunities.
It supports regional trans-boundary initiatives through partnership with regional partner institutions, facilitates the exchange of experience, and serves as a regional knowledge hub. It works to strengthen networking among regional and global centres of excellence. Overall, ICIMOD strives to improve the living standards of mountain people and to sustain vital ecosystem services for the billions of people living downstream – now, and for the future. |
