Ministry of Culture under Government of India works towards preservation of various cultural forms through maintenance and conservation of sites having archeological, heritage and historical importance, such as monuments, conservation and documentation of ancient manuscripts, promotion of art and maintenance and preservation of archival records and archival libraries. The Ministry also extends grants to cultural organizations, gives financial assistance to professional groups as well as individuals associated with specified performing art projects, offer Academy Fellowships to artists and supports research and development activities aimed at conservation of cultural properties.
