The key focus area of the Ministry is preservation, showcasing and promotion of tribal culture, traditions and customs. It does so through organization of tribal festivals both at the regional and national level. Such festivals include various activities, ranging from dances and mela (fairs) to exhibition of arts and artifacts (such as photos), documentaries and sports events. It helps in generation of awareness of the richness and diversity of tribal culture among the urban people and elicits feelings of respect and admiration for tribal culture. It also provides the tribal people with opportunities to perform and showcase their cultural and traditional activities by tapping of inherent talent of uprising folk artists, to be followed by encouragement to participate in national and international events.
