An autonomous body under Ministry of Culture, IGNCA focuses on research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of arts. Its main activities are cultural preservation and propagation, maintenance of an information system and data bank on arts, humanities and cultural heritage and study and publication of fundamental texts in Indian languages.
