A Public Sector Undertaking functioning under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, NEHHDC, works for the promotion, development and marketing of handlooms and handicrafts in all the states across Northeast India. It organizes North East Crafts Fairs and Exhibitions in various places of India, thus providing marketing support to artisans and weavers from this region, promotes marketing of the handlooms and handicrafts products of the North East region through “Purbashree” emporia at Shillong, Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi and Bangalore, and sales promotion office in Chennai and imparts training aimed at capacity building of artisans and weavers.
