The Department of Cultural Affairs and Heritage is responsible for the promotion art and culture in the State. The Department executes its functions through three sections – the song and drama unit, the archive and archaeology section, and the library section which are responsible for promotion of performing art, such as folk songs and dances, preservation of institutions with archaic importance (such as monuments), and conservation of the historical records and documents and management of public libraries at the State, district and sub-divisional levels.
