Functioning under the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of West Bengal, the Paschimbanga Natya Akademi extends various sorts of possible support to the theater activities in the State. It aids in the development of skills and expertise, documentation and archiving the theater history of the State, dissemination of information as well as theoretical and historical understanding and promotion and projection of significant creativity of the field. A significant activity of the Akademi is the organization of Theater Festival every year.
