The Folk and Tribal Cultural Centre deals with the study and development of folk culture of West Bengal, while ensuring its survival and preservation. The various tools and methods that it uses includes an artificial “folk village” in the suburb of Kolkata, a journal called “Lokoshruti”, publication of research books, audio-cassettes, Compact Discs, etc. It currently runs six centers for Cultivation of Folk and Tribal Culture, located in the districts of Jalpaiguri, Birbhum, West Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia and Murshidabad and also conducts training camps and workshops in different districts of the state. |
