The Pan Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation (Grassroots) is a voluntary organization registered in 1992. The primary aim of Grassroots is to initiate people’s action for the restoration of Himalayan watersheds through holistic developmental programmes. Programme offices of Grassroots are located in Ranikhet, Almora District, Uttarakhand; and in Pidyadhar, Sirmaur District, Himachal Pradesh, India.
Grassroots aims to support self-reliant community organizations for improving their quality of life. They undertake natural resource management programmes, optimize mountain-farming systems, adopt appropriate technology options for renewable energy, water and sanitation, support self-help groups to derive sustainable incomes and thereby reduce out-migration. Grassroots also strives to bring together specialists and concerned citizens for detailed dialogues on Himalayan issues and their potential solutions. |
