People's Association for Himalaya Area Research (PAHAR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raise awareness regarding the fragile Himalayan environment and bring together scientists, social activists, and common people to save the Himalayas. It is a collective effort of people who adore and love Himalayas; the contributors are people with diverse interest-scientists, activists, environmentalists, literateurs, journalist, artists, mountaineers - those committed to scientific understanding of Himalayan society, culture, history and environment.
PAHAR undertakes a number of activities towards fulfilling its objectives- publications (including a magazine named PAHAR and small booklets/posters pertaining to the major issues in the Himalayas), treks to the Himalayan region, seminars, discussions, and slide shows and major field study programmes covering more than 1000 villages of Central Himalaya. |
