  Development of Commercial Horticulture through Production and Post-Harvest Management

Description/Purpose:

This scheme is being pursued by the National Horticulture Board with a view to develop high quality horticultural farms in the identified belts. The overall objective is to make such areas vibrant with horticultural activity which in turn will act as hubs for developing commercial horticulture by using high-tech horticulture techniques. This scheme will also help in developing infrastructure for post-harvest management, help increase the producer´s share in consumer price and create marketing networks for the produce

 
Particulars:

The subsidy at the rate of 50 % is given for plastic crates, cartons, baskets, aseptic packaging and nets. The subsidy is being available for crates and nets (shade and anti-hail only) as a part of integrated commercial projects only. Back-ended capital investment subsidy, not exceeding 20% of the total project cost with a maximum limit of Rs. 25 lakh per project shall be provided under the scheme to technically and financially viable projects. However, for the North-Eastern/tribal/hilly areas, the maximum subsidy given would be Rs 30 lakh per project. The subsidy would be sanctioned through the participating banks/FIs or through National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) in case of the cooperative sector.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Projects involving high density plantations, hi-tech cultivation under controlled climatic conditions i.e. in poly houses, green houses, net-houses, organic farming, hybrid seed production; bio-technology, etc.
  • Projects falling under the following categories are also eligible: development of infrastructure for production, post-harvest handling, processing and marketing; development of markets and introduction of new primary processing of products; development of horticulture ancillary industry for improved packaging, equipments, plastics, corrugated boxes, horticulture machinery/ tools, etc.
