The expenditure for development is shared on the basis of 75:25, by the Government of India and the State government. Government of India’s share is in the form of grant-in-aid for all the items falling under each component. A beneficiary can avail the subsidy on these items only once. The activity of freshwater and brackish water aquaculture is to be implemented by FFDA (Fish Farmers Development Agencies) and the rest of the activities are put into operation by the Fisheries Department of the different state governments.
a. Construction of new ponds: The hill states/districts and North-Eastern region get an assistance of Rs. 3 lakh/ha. Subsidy is given at the rate of 20% with a ceiling of Rs. 60,000/ha for all farmers except SC’s/ST’s for whom it will be Rs. 75,000/ha (25%).
b. Fish seed hatchery: An assistance of Rs. 12 lakh is provided for a fish seed hatchery with a capacity of 10 million in the hills. A subsidy of Rs. 1.20 lakh for freshwater fish seed hatchery is given to the entrepreneurs only of the hills.
c. Transportation facilities: The transportation facilities for fish and prawn seeds is only applicable for the hill States/Districts and North-Eastern States. Subsidy at the rate of Rs. 20 for 1000 fry transported to all FFDAs. It is not applicable for an individual fish farmer.
d. Pond renovation and reclamation: For the reclamation and renovation of ponds and tanks a subsidy of Rs. 60,000/ha. is given at the rate of Rs. 12, 000/ha to all farmers. The ceiling amount for the SC’s/ST’s is Rs. 15,000/ha at 25%.
e. Finfish/prawn culture: For finfish culture, a subsidy of Rs. 30,000/ha is provide at 20% interest rate with a ceiling of Rs. 6,000/ha for all farmers except SC’s/ST’s for whom it will be Rs. 7,500/ha (25%). A subsidy at the rate of 20% for the amount of Rs. 1.20 lakh per ha with a ceiling of Rs. 24,000/- per ha is given for freshwater prawn culture. In order to do fish culture in hilly areas, an amount of Rs. 20,000/unit for 100 sq. meters is given. This cost is inclusive of Rs. 4,000/- given towards inputs. A subsidy at the rate of 20% with a ceiling of Rs. 4,000/- unit for all farmers except SC’s/ST’s for whom it will be Rs. 5,000/unit (25%).
f. Integrated fish farming: initiatives are given the amount of Rs. 80, 000/ha as subsidy at the rate of 20% with a ceiling of Rs. 16, 000/ha for all farmers. This excludes the SC/ST farmers who get a ceiling of Rs. 20,000/ha (25%).
g. Trainings: A fish farmer is given a stipend of Rs. 100/- per day for a training of 10 days and Rs. 100/- as travel expenses. |
