The scheme was launched on 1st January 2006 and will continue up to 1st January 2012. The Government is providing this Scheme for the benefit of farmers under which comes the plans such as Quality Seed Multiplication and Distribution, Vegetable Development Project, Crop Protection, Ginger Development, Seed Potato Development.

For Seed Multiplication annually about 3500 to 4000 Qtls. seed of Cereals, Pulses and Vegetables are produced. For Vegetable Development Project Annually more than 9.30 lac tonnes of fresh vegetables are produced. Intensification is done through project approach. Presently 100 projects with an area 1000 hectares have been taken up. For Crop Protection the Department exercises vigil on Pest situation. To overcome this, about 300 M.T of pesticides through 1,500 Sale Centers are being supplied to the farmers. For production of disease free Ginger, the Department is providing Training, Demonstrations and Quality Seed. Annually about 33,000 tones of Green Ginger is produced which is marketed to the neighboring States. For Potato Development the Department owns 14 Potato Development Stations where Foundation Seed Potato is produced. The plant protection material including equipments is supplied to the SCs/ STs/ IRDP families and farmers of the backward areas at 50% cost.
