Description/Purpose:

The scheme was launched in January 2002 and will run until January 2012. Besides developing water sources, on farm handling of water is also very important to ensure irrigation. Plasticulture technologies have proved beneficial to promote the judicial utilization of water and sunlight and offer protection against natural vagaries. This scheme is one of the components of the Horticulture Technology Mission..

 
Particulars:

Under this scheme assistance is offered for different activities. Rs. 28,500/- per hectare area offered for drip irrigation system installation, depending on the crop spacing. Rs. 15,000/- per hectare offered for sprinkler irrigation installation. Rs. 7,000/- per hectare offered for Plastic Mulching. These are at the rate of 50% of cost. 40% of cost or Rs. 40,000/- whichever is lower is for a maximum area of 500 sq. m. of Greenhouses. Rs. 1.50 lakh assisted for establishment of Greenhouses for flower cultivation fitted with temperature, humidity, light controls, fertigation systems, etc. for maximum area of 500 sq. m. Rs.5/ sq. m. for a maximum area of one-hectare area under Low Tunnels. 50% of cost or Rs. 14/ sq. m. whichever is lower is offered for for Shade Nets. 50% of cost or Rs. 500 per tree for a maximum of 50 trees per beneficiary for Anti hail nets. 50% of cost or Rs. 2,000 per hectare is assisted for Bird Protection Nets.
