  Craftsman Training Scheme
   
 
Description/Purpose:

The Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) was introduced by the Government of India in 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the domestic industry, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable training, to cultivate and nurture a technical/ industrial attitude in the minds of the younger generation

 
Particulars:

The Scheme, shaping the skilled manpower for the country, was transferred to the State Governments from the year 1956 and the same was introduced in the State in the year 1958 by the establishment of two Industrial Training Institutes (ITI's) at Srinagar and Jammu. The Craftsmen Training Scheme is conducted by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) all over the country, through the respective State Councils for Vocational Training (SCVT's) in the States.

Eligibility criteria:

Any person who has passed Metric examinations can apply for the training offered through this Scheme.
