  Incentive to Farmers

Description/Purpose:

The scheme provides various types of incentives/ assistance to farmers of the state. The scheme launched by the state government has a specific focus on welfare of small and marginal farmers.

 
Particulars:

The state government provides 50% subsidy on cost of seeds, protection material and agricultural implements. The government also provides cost subsidy at Rs.200/- per M.T. for Nitrogenous fertilizers. The scheme also tries to popularize Biogas Models viz. Deenbandhu and Janta on which subsidy at the rate of Rs.3,500/- per plant up to 1 cubic meter and Rs.4,500/- for more than 1 cubic meter is being given.

S.C. and S.T. Farmers can avail of 50% subsidy on the cost of micro-nutrients. Subsidy is also provided on Tractors (for up to 35 HP) at the rate 25%, limited up to Rs.30,000/-. Subsidy for sprinkler irrigation equipments is provided at the rate 50% to S.C./S.T./Small farmers/Marginal farmers/Women farmers subject to a maximum of Rs.15000/- per set.
The applicants need to approach the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Boileauganj, Shimla or Deputy Director Offices at the District Headquarters.
Introduced in January, 2006, the scheme is valid till January, 2012.
 
Beneficiaries:
Farmers, SC, ST and Women Farmers.
 
Eligibility criteria:

Farmers, resident of Himachal Pradesh. Should be scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), small or marginal farmer or women for specific components of the scheme. Small farmers are define as cultivators with landholding of 2 hectares (5 acre) or less. Marginal farmers are defined as cultivators with landholding of 1 hectare (2.5 acre) or less.
