Description/Purpose:

The scheme launched by the state government aims to provide gainful sources of employment for unemployed individuals having an engineering degree or diploma.

 
Particulars:

It provides these unemployed engineers with other alternatives to government jobs through allotting them work contracts in the various engineering or developmental projects in the State.

Under this scheme, the individuals need to formulate a self-help group (SHG) comprising of 5 to 10 members having a diploma (minimum 3 years) or degree in engineering and who are unemployed. The members cannot be listed in more than one SHG in the same District or any other District.
This SHG should be registered as a Firm with the Registrar of Firms and as an SHG with the Deputy Director Employment. After the details are verified, the group would be issued an identity card. The group would then be registered as a contractor with the Public Works Department (PWD) and can be allotted work.
Launched in the year 2003, the scheme is valid up to November, 2014.
 
Beneficiaries:
Unemployed individuals having an engineering degree or diploma, who are residents of J&K state.
 
Eligibility criteria:

The Self Help Groups of Engineers: 

a.      Should not have less than 5 and more than 10 members.
b.      Should be registered with the Registrar of Firms as a firm.
c.       Should also be registered as a Self Help Group with Deputy Director, Employment.
d.      Should have members holding a diploma (minimum 3 years) or a degree in Engineering.
e.      Should not have a member or the group leader who is employed elsewhere.
f.       Should not have a member who has enlisted in more than one Self Help Group in the same District
or some other District.
g.      Should have all original documents verified by the officer in charge personally.
