  State Government Stipend to Meritorious Minority Students

Description/Purpose:

This scheme encourages the meritorious poor students from minority groups for continuing their education.

 
Particulars:

The scheme provides yearly stipend of Rs.6,000/-, 9,000/- and 14,400 for higher secondary, graduation and post graduation levels respectively. However, technical and professional courses at graduate and post-graduate levels are not included. Out of the total scholarship money, 30% is reserved for girl students.

The period of application is the month of June and July every year. The application forms are available in Minority Assistance Cell at the District Magistrates Office; and with theField Supervisors of West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC).
 
Beneficiaries:
Minority Students of Class XI and above.
 
Eligibility criteria:

Students from minority community who score 65% or more in Madhyamik (Class X board examination) or equivalent and 60% or more in Higher Secondary level and minimum 50% marks in the Graduation. The Madrasa Board and other boards are also eligible. Annual family income should not be more than Rs.80,000/- per annum.
