Life in Hills

Life in the hills is always tough but at the same time the scenic beauty is unimaginable. I like the people, culture, traditions, customs, beliefs, food habits but I do dislike the invasion of Western culture into our traditions like the way we dress.

It is very hard to live in such a place where food and water are very scarce and supply is often hindered by landslides and avalanches. These days soaring prices of regular use items and lack of emergency medical facilities has made life here miserable. We have been living in the hills from ancient times and we have become acquainted with the temperature and terrain but it has its own merits and demerits.

Though I have visited many places outside Himachal, yet I feel very secure and happy when I am in my village than anywhere else. These places may have good transportation facilities, schools and colleges, etc. but they cannot be compared to the richness of culture in our mountains, which attracts people from outside the country too.”
