“The Kinnaur area has a lot of opportunities but they are concentrated in the towns. The district has one NIC centre where people can get a lot of information. However, the villagers are deprived of these opportunities due to the distance factor. The villages at high altitudes are snow bound most of the time.

Due to the inadequate staff in schools the performance of students is getting affected. There are some stipends for students, which helps them. Since there is the lack of vocational training programmes the youth cannot find jobs easily. There is also the lack of proper guidance in schools and colleges.

Education is useful in many ways. Here in Kinnaur, there is the need for vocational training and quality institutes for higher education. Vocational training programmes should be conducted to help decrease unemployment.”
