  Remote Area Sulabh Health Scheme (Sudurvarti Sulabh Swasthya Yojana)

Description/Purpose:

It aims at extending basic health facilities to residents of the state’s remotest areas.

 
Particulars:

Under this scheme, at the time of any emergency and natural disaster government appointees named “Sudurvarti Swasthya Sahayak” or SSS make health/medical facilities available to people residing in places that are far away from the nearest medical units. In the hilly areas, SSS take health/medical facilities to people living in places that are located at a distance of 3 kms from the nearest medical units. In plains, they take such facilities to people who are located at a distance of 5 kms from the nearest medical unit. Apart from providing first aid facilities, SSS also take people to the nearest medical unit or ambulances when there is any need for more serious medical attention.

SSS are also responsible for disseminating information regarding epidemic or communicable diseases to nearest medical units. They are also supposed to foster mass awareness on issues, such as sanitation, harmful effects of tobacco products, importance of the registration of birth and death, etc.

 
Beneficiaries:
Residents of those remote areas that suffer from poor accessibility to medical/health facilities.
